Whitman Johnson
Born in 1949, and a painter in Santa Fe since 1975, Whitman
Johnson is primarily a landscape artist.
His method is rigorously plein-air, but in the manner of Cezanne
rather than alla-prima, dedicating many
sessions to the completion of a composition. The suggestion of
geometry that he finds in the landscape,
and records on canvas, finds its way into his intaglio prints as
well.
